Currently, most enterprise intranet systems process user information for security and access authentication purposes. However, this information is often captured by unauthorized users who may edit, modify, delete or otherwise corrupt this data. In addition, corruption can result from inaccurate communication protocols in the web browser. Therefore, a method is needed to prevent unauthorized or erroneous access and modification of data through the intranet. This paper proposes an efficient security procedure that incorporates a new model that allows flexible web security access control in securing information over the intranet in UC. The proposed web security access control system improves the intranet data and access security by using encryption and decryption techniques. It further improves the security access control by providing authentication corresponding to different security page levels relevant to public ownership and information sensitivity between different enterprise departments. This approach reduces processing time and prevents information leakage and corruption caused by mistakes that occur as a result of communication protocol errors between client PC's or mail security methods.

Recent technological advances in portability, mobility support, and high speed wireless communications and users' insatiable interest in accessing the Internet have fueled to development of mobile wireless networks. Internet-based mobile ad hoc network (IMANET) is emerging as a ubiquitous communication infrastructure that combines a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) and the Internet to provide universal information accessibility. However, communication performance may be seriously degraded by network partitions resulted from frequent changes of the network topology. In this paper, we propose an enhanced least recently used replacement policy as a part of the aggregate cache mechanism to improve the information accessibility and reduce the access latency in the presence of network partitioning. The enhanced aggregate cache is analyzed and also evaluated by simulation. Extensive simulation experiments are conducted under various network topologies by using three different mobility models: random waypoint, Manhattan grid, and modified random waypoint. The simulation results indicate that the proposed policy significantly improves communication performance in varying network topologies, and relieves the network partition problem to a great extent.

Recently, data-dependent permutations (DDP) that are very suitable for intelligent multimedia and ubiquitous computing systems have been introduced as a new cryptographic primitive for the design of fast encryption systems. The CIKS-128 and CIKS-128H block ciphers are the typical examples of DDP-based encryption algorithms. In this paper, we show that CIKS-128 and CIKS-128H are vulnerable to related-key differential attacks. We first describe how to construct their full-round related-key differential characteristics with high probabilities and then we exploit them to break the full-round CIKS-128 and CIKS-128H with 244, and 248 data/time complexities, respectively.

The double-layered peer-to-peer (P2P) systems were introduced to reduce the network traffic in MANET. The peers in the systems are classified into super peers and sub-peers. Super peers manage their neighboring sub-peers. The network communications in the systems are done mostly among super peers. In case when a pair of neighboring super peers is too far to communicate, one or two of their sub-peers bridges the super peers. However, the double-layered systems need to improve the reliability that guarantees communications among peers. In this paper, we propose a new double-layered P2P system in which super peers are selected based on their mobility. We also propose two reliability improvement schemes, the avoidance scheme and the role changing scheme. They are applied to the proposed system to enhance the reliability of the system. The proposed system is implemented in the dynamic mobile P2P environment where peers may join and leave the network dynamically and the number of peers varies. The various experiments are done with the Network Simulator-2 v2.33. The experimental results show that the proposed system with the two schemes improved the reliability over other double-layered systems in terms of the failure rate by up to 25

With the recent advanced computing, networking technologies and embedded systems, the computing paradigm has switched from mainframe and desktop computing to ubiquitous computing, one of whose visions is to provide intelligent, personalized and comprehensive services to users. As a new paradigm, Active Services is proposed to generate such services by retrieving, adapting, and composing of existing service components to satisfy user requirements. As the popularity of this paradigm and hence the number of service components increases, how to efficiently retrieve components to maximally meet user requirements has become a fundamental and significant problem. However, traditional facet-based retrieval methods only simply list out all the results without any kind of ranking and do not lay any emphasis on the differences of importance on each facet value in user requirements, which makes it hard for user to quickly select suitable components from the resulting list. To solve the problems, this paper proposes a novel personalized facet-weight based ranking method for service component retrieval, which assigns a weight for each facet to distinguish the importance of the facets, and constructs a personalized model to automatically calculate facet-weights for users according to their historical retrieval records of the facet values and the weight setting. We optimize the parameters of the personalized model, evaluate the performance of the proposed retrieval method, and compare with the traditional facet-based matching methods. The experimental results show promising results in terms of retrieval accuracy and execution time.

XML is largely used by most applications to exchange data among different software components. XML documents, in most cases, follow a grammar or schema that describes which elements and data types are expected by the application. These schemas are translated from specifications written in natural language, and consequently, in this process some mistakes are usually made. Because of this, faults can be introduced in the schemas, and incorrect XML documents can be validated, causing a failure in the application. Hence, to test schemas is a fundamental activity to ensure the integrity of the XML data. With the growing number of Web applications and increased use of XML, there is a demand for specific testing approaches and tools to test schemas. To fulfill this demand, this work introduces a fault-based approach for testing XML schemas. This approach is based on a classification of common faults found in schemas. A supporting tool was implemented and used in evaluation studies. The obtained results show the applicability of the fault-based testing in this context and its efficacy in revealing faults.

Shot boundary detection is the first step of the video analysis, summarization and retrieval. In this paper, we propose a novel shot boundary detection algorithm using Generalized Eigenvalue Decomposition (GED) and modeling of gradual transitions by Gaussian functions. Especially, we focus on the challenges of detecting the gradual shots and extracting appropriate spatio-temporal features, which have effects on the ability of algorithm to detect shot boundaries efficiently. We derive a theorem that discuss about some new features of GED which could be used in the video processing algorithms. Our innovative explanation utilizes this theorem in the defining of new distance metric in Eigen space for comparing video frames. The distance function has abrupt changes in hard cut transitions and semi-Gaussian behavior in gradual transitions. The algorithm detects the transitions by analyzing this distance function. Finally we report the experimental results using large-scale test sets provided by the TRECVID 2006 which has evaluations for hard cut and gradual shot boundary detection.

In this article, we discuss aspect persistence, how it can be implemented in the .NET framework, and how to use the .NET framework to provide object-oriented queries for aspect-oriented persistence layers. The manner in which aspect-orientation can be available in the .NET framework is investigated in the first part of this article. Then the procedure through which adding persistence concepts to the .NET framework as aspects will be explained. In the next step, providing object-oriented querying is discussed, which is the main part of this article. Having object-oriented querying ability helps processes query in the same object-oriented domain in which objects are defined (not in the relation entities' domain). Language Integrated Query (LINQ) is used to provide the ability of querying in an object-oriented manner. Then, the translation of queries from the real objects' domain to the storage-objects' domain is explained. After such translation, the queries can be run by using the existing LINQ providers (for example LINQ to SQL). Finally, translating the result of queries back into the real objects' domain is discussed.

The present paper deals with the estimation of the solution error of the boundary value problems of mechanics science. The well-known ideas of error estimators are presented, as well as new original ones, which use the concept of the improved HO reference solution, obtained using the Meshless Finite Difference Method analysis. Such HO estimators may be applied not only in the MFDM, but also in the Finite Element Method error analysis. This issue is presented here for the first time ever. The approach is tested on chosen 2D benchmark problems. The results are very encouraging.
